Impact Washington will present a series of three workshops in support of small businesses focused on Lean principles of management. Lean management is a systematic approach to improving business processes by identifying and eliminating waste, focusing on value creation for customers, and fostering continuous improvement. It is based on the principle of continuous improvement, seeking incremental changes to enhance efficiency and quality.
The first session is Building a Lean Culture and will be on May 13, from 10:00am to 2:30pm, in the YourSpace Meeting Room on the TwispWorks campus. In this session, participants will define the drivers of a Lean culture, understand the characteristics and behaviors of Lean leaders, and learn the importance of Gemba and its impact. Gemba is a Japanese term meaning “the real place” or “the actual place” and refers to the physical location where value is created or where work is performed. This can include the shop floor, a production site, or any area where employees are directly engaged in creating products or providing services.
The Building a Lean Culture session is part of the Leading in a Lean Environment series. The other two workshops are Managing People in a Lean Culture (May 20) and Leading Through Change (May 27). These events are an opportunity to improve your workforce’s ability to identify waste and eliminate it and continue to build a continuous improvement mindset in your business or organization.
