The Nightshade Bowery: Where Curiosity Meets Craft

Step inside The Nightshade Bowery on the TwispWorks campus and you’re met with an inviting tangle of color and texture—hand-thrown mugs, vintage textiles, soft light glowing off deep blue walls. Every surface tells a story. Lace-draped tables hold pottery, books, and jewelry; scarves and hand-stitched garments hang beside weathered antiques. The space feels both intimate and full of discovery, exactly as owner Grace Ashford intended.

Grace opened The Nightshade Bowery this fall, transforming the former Methow Valley Goods space into a reflection of her creative spirit. “I like things that are darker, a little moodier—objects with a past,” she says. “I wanted people to feel like they could linger, to find something new around every corner.”

More than 30 local artists and makers are represented in the shop, from potters and painters to textile and jewelry artists. “It’s my vision for my jewelry, but I want it to work for everyone else, too,” she says. “The feedback has been incredible.”

Grace’s connection to TwispWorks runs deep—her mother was one of the campus’s first tenants, and Grace often returned for mother-daughter art shows during the early, “scrappy” years of the campus. Now, she’s helping shape its next chapter.

Looking ahead, Grace envisions The Nightshade Bowery as a gathering place—hosting artist talks, workshops, and small community events. “I want it to be more than a store,” she says. “I want it to be a place where people come to connect, learn, and linger.”
