The Legacy of Mike Real

A lot has been shared about Mike Real and his generous legacy gifts to non-profits in the Methow Valley, yet this is a story worth repeating.
Mike was known for living “full-out” in all aspects of his life. He was a biker and a pilot, a reader and an entertainer, a board member at several local non-profits and a volunteer.
Don Linnertz, former executive director of TwispWorks, recalls Mike as a humble and hardworking volunteer, who wouldn’t blink an eye at tasks like setting up tables. He added that Mike could, in flash, be dressed to the nines and ready to celebrate.
Mike once joked that he was “at the age where he needed to start writing bigger checks,” and this humor was backed by a thoughtful integrity. Inspired by the late Ken Westman and Red McComb, Mike arranged to bequeath a lasting legacy to nonprofits in the Methow Valley.
TwispWorks is honored and grateful to have received a legacy gift from Mike Real. His enthusiasm, humor, and work ethic will live on in the students, artists, and entrepreneurs at TwispWorks!
