Autum Art Adventures Nature Journaling Classes: Death & Decay

Perri Howard and Mary Kiesau present the last class in their “Autumn Art Adventures,” a series of nature journaling classes that combine educational excursions outdoors with indoor nature drawing lessons. Participants will celebrate the change of seasons from fading summer blooms to gorgeous autumn color while becoming more engaged naturalists and practicing drawing with a fun and supportive group.

Class meets on Friday, 12:30pm-5:00pm. Class costs $70 and all materials are included and you will take home your completed work.

Each class stands on its own, however if you sign up for multiple classes your skills will build on each other, giving you a richer experience. Experiment with colored pencils and learn about blending, shades, hues, and vibrancy to celebrate fall foliage.

October 25th: Death and Decay
We will play with the spooky side of our late fall landscape, using textures, contours, and line quality to convey plant life that is dormant, dead and decaying.

Spring Thaw & Draw – Nature Journaling for Everyone! Bugs & Butterflies

Perri Howard and Mary Kiesau are offering a “Spring Thaw & Draw” series of nature journaling classes to get you outside and drawing. These Friday afternoon classes start with a short natural history-focused walk in the field led by Mary Kiesau, followed by drawing practice in the Velocity Made Studio led by Perri Howard. This spring’s classes have a B theme (Buds, Birds, Blossoms, and Bugs) and will meet Friday, 12:30pm-5:00pm, May 31.

The sessions are designed for everyone: beginners will learn lots of tips and step-by-step “recipes” for drawing and nature journaling, and more experienced students will hone in on details and more challenging drawing skills. Each class will begin with a short excursion outside and natural history lesson, then move indoors to Perri’s studio at TwispWorks.

Class is $65 and all materials are included. Space is limited to 12 people per class. Classes are designed for ages 16 and up. If you would like to bring someone under the age of 16, please call or email Perri.
