The Public School Funding Alliance (PSFA) has awarded TwispWorks a grant supporting youth participating in the 2016/2017 Careers in Construction Academy.
TwispWorks, in partnership with Liberty Bell High School, delivers the Careers in Construction Academy for youth grades 9 – 12 who are interested in pursuing a career in construction related trades.
Thanks in part to PSFA’s support, the 2016/2017 Careers in Construction Academy will now include curriculum from the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) who is recognized by industry and government as the standard in training, assessment, certification and career development for construction professionals. In addition to the new curriculum, students enrolled in the fall course will travel to Spokane to attend the Spokane Career Fair and tour the Construction Industry Training Council (CITC) Training Center where they will meet industry experts and get exposure to specialized trades showcasing the wealth of opportunities available to them in the construction industry.
By providing students with vocational skills, and local businesses with qualified candidates, the Careers in Construction Academy helps support the local economy of the Methow Valley and serves as a bridge between secondary education and entry to the workforce.
