Entro, by Bernie Hosey
“Entro,” a captivating sculpture by the late Bernard Hosey, graces the entrance of the TwispWorks campus. This metal orb is part of Hosey’s renowned series of spherical sculptures, which are celebrated for their intricate designs that play with light and shadow. The presence of “Entro” at TwispWorks offers visitors a profound connection to the artist’s legacy.
Born in 1948 in Canada, Bernard Hosey moved to the United States in 1965, where he honed his skills in metal sculpture and engineering. He earned a Master of Fine Arts degree in 1981 and subsequently established himself in Seattle. Hosey’s artistic journey led him to the Methow Valley, where he became a prominent figure in the local art community. His works, including monumental sculptures displayed internationally—from Alaska to China—are characterized by their dynamic forms and the innovative use of metal. Locally, his creations, such as the metal entrance sign commissioned by the town of Twisp in 2010 and the distinctive spheres at TwispWorks, continue to inspire and captivate. Hosey’s unexpected passing in August 2012 was a significant loss to the art world, but his legacy endures through his enduring works.
