In coordination with the Methow Valley School District, Little Star School will be closed starting Monday, 3/16/20 through at least April 24, 2020 to help limit the spread of COVID 19. We recognize the significant impact this will have on our families and are working in partnership with MVSD, Room One and others to support families as best that we can.
Going forward, finding other options for childcare will be at the forefront of many of our minds. If you do not have a contingency plan and are in need of childcare assistance, you can call Little Star’s office at 509-996-2801. It is our goal that all families, especially health care providers and the most vulnerable members of our community, have access to the care they need.
We want to express our sincere concern for all of you. We do not take the decision to close school lightly and we know this will affect every aspect of our lives. We will get through this together and in support of one another. Acts of kindness and support will go a long way as we navigate our collective response to COVID-19.
In response to our community’s need for more childcare options, Little Star, Room One and TwispWorks have partnered to launch a new program, the Little Star South Collaborative (LSSC). Situated on the TwispWorks campus, the LSSC provides year-round childcare to children ages 0-3 years and connect families with resources to help them thrive.
LSSC extends its high-quality Montessori childcare program to infants and toddlers in Twisp, serving 4 infants and 12 toddlers daily. Our inclusive, supportive, and compassionate approach creates a learning environment where our valley’s children can flourish. LSSC accepts registration forms year round so if families anticipate they could be needing childcare in the future they should register early to get on the list.
Room One provides wrap-around family support services and partners with Little Star to provide parenting education and support.
TwispWorks provides the home for the childcare center, creating a place where children and families are welcomed and community is nurtured. TwispWorks also assists families in developing job skills and community networking.
We extend heartfelt thanks to our Methow Valley community for helping us build this valuable resource for families!
