Spring Thaw & Draw – Nature Journaling Field Day! Riparian Areas and the Rendezvous
May 18 @ 10:00 am - 4:00 pm$90
In addition to the “Spring Thaw & Draw” series of Friday afternoon classes, Perri Howard and Mary Kiesau are also offering “Field Day” classes on Saturdays.
These fully field-based classes are geared towards those who would enjoy an immersive experience hiking and drawing in nature. If you have taken a class with them before or have done some drawing on your own, the Field Day classes are a perfect fit for you. These longer classes will combine a more in-depth natural history excursion with more detailed field-based drawing. They are designed for people who are fairly comfortable with drawing tools through either previous classes or creative practice on your own.
These Saturday classes will meet from 10am-4pm and cost $90. Combined with drawing in the field, we’ll spend time gently hiking, learning about many of the Methow’s plants, birds and animals, a little geology, maybe even clouds. Drawing practice will include things both near and far, and cover a wide variety of techniques like creating depth and perspective, giving your shapes form, texture and expression, shading, drawing “landscapitos,” and working with color. We’ll work at a slightly more advanced pace.
All materials are included, and space is limited to 12 people per class. Classes are designed for ages 16 and up. If you would like to bring someone under the age of 16, please call or email Perri.
