Reeb Willms & Caleb Klauder at the Spartan

November 22, 2019 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

$20

The Spartan Art Project is proud to present an evening of music with Reeb Willms and Caleb Klauder.

When these two sing to us, their honest incantations leave a swirling cloud of magical sparkle smoke ‘round our hearts, and we can spin off into the night, spell-bound and smiling. Caleb Klauder’s dynamic rowdy mandolin playing, and Reeb Willms’ unwavering guitar sound, entwine a beautiful fabric around their songs that proves joyous, timeless, and resilient. Maybe it is the combination of their histories, or their unwillingness to depart authenticity for any kind of pretense.

From Waterville, Washington, and the high desert, Reeb comes from a salt of the earth people that gave her a rough and tumble appreciation of simplicity, and a humble, strong voice of character. Caleb comes from Orcas Island, in the Salish Sea in NW Washington, where wind blown trees, and salt sea have burnished Klauder’s voice with a dusty heartbreaking patina.

The two play and tour as a duo, and can also be found touring regionally and internationally with the Foghorn Stringband and the Caleb Klauder Country Band. They are pillars of the Portland, Oregon music scene and carry the torch of their music around the world, their songs and tunes warm with a latent nostalgia rooted in traditional music, yet at the same time strikingly original for our present time. The music they make embodies a plain honesty that touches people from all walks of life.

This convert is presented in the Spartan Art Project located next to Building #9 on the TwispWorks campus.
