METHOW SKILLS: Leather working with Mike Jolley
September 17, 2016 @ 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm$70
Leather working is in Mike Jolley’s blood. “There’s something primal about it. People just can’t help but touch it.” And it’s no surprise Mike is the local leather expert in Twisp; the owner of JR Brand Leather comes from a long line of horse trainers and cattle ranchers and everybody knows leather is close to a cowboy’s heart!
Leather working is not for everyone – it requires concentration, precision execution and many small meticulous steps. But if you’ve ever wanted to try your hand at it here is your chance. “Once you poke a hole in leather you can’t undo it,” says Mike, “but if you can stay in the moment, focus, work methodically, it’s a really rewarding material to work with.”
Mike will work with students on a belt project including sizing, hole punching and decorative techniques.
The workshop cost includes a $10 material fee.
The workshop will be held in the Education Station (Building 9) on the TwispWorks campus. Pre-registration is required.
