METHOW SKILLS: Coffee, Chocolate & Tobacco – Alkaloids We love & Herbs that Understand Us

February 11, 2017 @ 10:30 am - 12:30 pm

Clinical herbalist Robin Baire presents a Methow Skills Workshop: Coffee, Chocolate & Tobacco The Alkaloids We Love and the Herbs that Understand Us.

Alkaloids, the stuff we crave in coffee, chocolate & tobacco, are derived from amino acids or their precursors. These plant chemicals tend to have the most profound effect on our central nervous systems and can act as stimulants, relaxants or pain relievers.

In this workshop Robin will discuss the herbs with related alkaloids to the substances we tend to overuse. For example there are teas which can give us the morning get up and go of coffee while putting less stress on our adrenal glands. Robin will even introduce you to a smoking mix which can satisfy some of our tobacco needs while benefiting the lungs.

There will be teas and tinctures for your tasting pleasure.

The workshop will be held in the Education Station (Building 9) on the TwispWorks campus. Pre-registration is required.

Register by calling (509) 997-3300 or emailing register@twispworks.org
