Learn about the specialized visual language of comics and graphic novels, and how to apply them to your own art, in this detailed class. We’ll be looking at comics and graphic novels from all eras of history to see how they’ve evolved and just how diverse this medium can be!

You’ll storyboard, write, and draw your own comic in your unique style using the new techniques and visual language. Learn how to create an expressive character and how to make your story pop with a wide range of visual techniques used by comics and manga greats!

After this class you’ll walk away with a new appreciation of the rich artistry within comics, graphic novels, and manga, and an understanding of the vast space of artistic possibility within this ever-evolving medium!

This class is a broad examination of comics throughout history! Some of the content in the comics we’ll be looking at is R-rated, so parental permission or accompaniment is required for people younger than 17 to attend.)
