Chamber Music 101
June 10, 2017 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pmFree
Ever wondered what Chamber Music is all about? What’s a sonata? Why do all stringed instruments have those funny-shaped holes?
Here’s your chance to catch a snappy afternoon performance and get you questions answered at the same time.
The Methow Music Festival, in partnership with TwispWorks, proudly presents Chamber Music 101, a light-hearted look at the most fun, most personal area of classical music. Hosted by Kevin Krentz in his humorous and irreverent style, the hour-long show will feature fun and familiar chamber music performed by Seattle’s Serendipity String Quartet.
Dr. Krenz is an award-winning cellist, entrepreneur, educator, and the Artistic Director of the Methow Valley Chamber Music Festival. He has played on many movie soundtracks, including Pirates of the Caribbean, and he absolutely loves Chamber Music.
The Serendipity Quartet shares its love of classical music all around the the Puget Sound community by putting on professional-quality performances at low to zero cost. The quartet was born in 2015, when two Seattle Philharmonic Orchestra violinists “serendipitously” reunited after discovering they had attended the same elementary school. You won’t find a more amiable group of players, or a host better equipped to reveal the nature of Chamber Music than this. Don’t miss it!
This event is made free and open to the public by a generous grant from the Methow Valley Fund.
