Can I make it on these wages?
May 2 @ 5:30 pm - 7:00 pmFree
In 2017, Little Star, Room One, and TwispWorks came together to launch the Little Star South Collaborative last year – a project that was designed to support our community’s effort to make childcare affordable and accessible for all. This effort has led to such an important childcare resource for our community, and we are continuing to explore ways to bridge the cost of living in the Methow (costs that include childcare) with the real wages people earn out here.
On May 2nd, the partners in the Collaborative are bringing the University of Washington to the Methow to talk about a tool they have developed to help people understand the cost of living in communities like ours, and they’ll share date that is specific to the Methow Valley. We know information from this tool, called the Self- Sufficiency Standard, is going to be valuable to local folks who are working to make ends meet, and we are hoping it will help our community as a whole continue to think about ways we can make sure everyone can get their basic needs met.
Please join us to learn from the University of Washington about the costs of living in the Methow, and how policies and a safety net can make a difference.
This event is for all those trying to make ends meet, business owners, and everyone interested in learning about making it in the Methow.
