Big History with Dana Visalli – Early Life on Earth

January 16, 2017 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

sliding scale

Join local naturalist Dana Visalli for a fascinating seven week introduction to Big History: the evolutionary journey of Life on Earth as well as the evolution of the Earth itself and the universe, as far as it is understood today.

The January 16th class will focus on early life on earth – bacteria, archea & protists, the emergence of the near-miracle of photo-synthesis.

Big History is a newish academic discipline, now taught in about 100 universities and colleges
around the world. Major themes emerging from the subject include 1) the world is an ever-changing place, and 2) there is some direction to the changes, and 3) human beings are a meaningful part of this journey and how we operate our minds, the ongoing process of thinking, is relevant here.

The classes and presentations will be on Mondays in January and early February with optional video/discussion evenings on Wednesdays.

Tuition is on a sliding scale, $0-$130 (there are 13 total evenings). The $0 price is meant especially for students. And being as we are all students of Life, anyone is welcome to take advantage of the offer.
