A Sense of Place Spotlight: Intrinsic Design

What they do: Intrinsic Design is an architectural design studio that takes pride in creating site specific, environmentally conscience residential and commercial building for the Methow Valley and beyond.
What’s new or exciting: First, education: I recently completed a course in Passive House building science put on by Passive House Institute of the United States. Merging this new education with my years spent as a builder in this valley allow me to tailor a buildings design to the clients energy efficiency goals and their budget realities.
Second, new buildings under construction: I am very proud to say to Intrinsic Design was selected to design the new campus buildings for two amazing non profits here in the valley, Room One in Twisp and Methow Trails in Winthrop. Both campuses will provide the expansion that these vital organizations need to continue providing their top notch services and both are currently under construction.
Third, Interior Design: My amazing partner Allison Ciancibelli has come on board at Intrinsic Design to provide Interior Design services. This addition really helps us deliver a fully conceived design for the clients to execute with their general contractor.
How they interact with the physical landscape of the Methow: We provide architectural and interior design services tailored to the ecological and environmental realities of the Methow Valley. We look to design buildings that are appropriate to their context and as environmentally sensitive as possible.
What they’ve recently built that connects them to the Methow: See the Methow Trails and Room One projects above!
Their favorite Methow summer activity: Cycling, hiking, climbing, and getting in the rivers and lakes!
What’s making them smile: Working with clients who embrace the idea of creating low impact buildings to be built in our valley.
