A Letter From Our Departing Executive Director, Sarah Brown

A little over a week ago, we said goodbye to our Executive Director, Sarah, as she wrapped up her four years with TwispWorks. In that time, Sarah poured her energy, optimism, and creativity into shaping the campus and strengthening our community. From big milestones like new buildings and beloved events, to the small everyday moments of connection that make this place special, she’s left a lasting mark.

Sarah shared a beautiful letter of gratitude and reflection with us, and we’d love to share it with you here:

Dear TwispWorks Community,

Thank you.

I have spent only four years as the Executive Director of TwispWorks and you have been kind and generous to me, my questions, my kids, my dog (yes, I also miss Cody), my endless curiosity, and my relentless optimism.

My last day at TwispWorks is the 28th of August, but my gratitude for the incredible community support both TwispWorks and I have received during my tenure will last a very long time. I’ve witnessed the soaring success of our Methow Investment Network, the launch and sustaining enthusiasm for the 4th Fridays music series, and the construction of the auto tech and welding building.

I’ve enjoyed sweet vignettes like toddlers learning to ride bikes on the horseshoe at one end of campus, or the ILC students playing hacky sack on the lawn on a crisp fall morning, while almost 100 people roll into campus to start their workday here.

I can’t count the number of times I’ve been out on a walk through campus, or Hank’s, or skiing at the Loup and someone approaches me with an idea about how TwispWorks can get EVEN BETTER. I walk away smiling, knowing that I have the privilege of being known in my community, and being thought of as someone who will listen and can make a difference. My gratitude for those small exchanges is immense. I’m also grateful for your support for my nutty ideas that haven’t worked out as well, or your grace when communication has slipped.

I know that my drive for innovation and optimism means I don’t succeed all the time, but I’ll be on the leading edge of making the magic happen. Some of my ideas and connections may fall flat while others take off, but trying is the only way to discern between the two. So please, as I prepare for my departure from TwispWorks, find ways to help make the magic happen. Help TwispWorks stay a hub of joy, a magnetic place of creativity and support our small businesses and creatives by showing up, by donating your time and money, dancing on the lawn, and being part of what makes TwispWorks irresistible to so many of us.

I may not be in the Executive Director’s office, but you can bet I’ll be watching and smiling from the sidelines.

Sarah
